Advanced obedience/working programs have a pre-requisite of the Foundation Program and Intermediate Levels of training. The client is initially interviewed to ascertain which areas they might like to train their dog.

The client can opt for programs like: Canine Good Citizen preparation, Therapy Dog International-Canine Good Citizen requirements, American Kennel Club titles for Sub-Novice, Novice, Open and Utility Dog training, intro to Agility, Field Dog/Hunting Dog Obedience training, Frisbee(r) training, intro to Flyball training, Hearing Ear Dog training, Parade Obedience, Rally Obedience, Schutzhund Obedience, Service Dog work, Trick training, and other programs the client might want to explore.

Specialized Advanced Obedience programs are structured based on the ultimate goal of the client. Some clients might like to work their dog in a competition program, without actually competing, where others might like to formally compete in the obedience ring.
